Abstract Text: *
The phenomenon of short term light variations called shadow bands appear just before and just
after totality during solar eclipses. We present observations of shadow bands carried out during
the total solar eclipse of 21 August 2017. We are the first Bulgarian team who uses 2-axis
ultrasonic wind sensor for maintenance-free wind speed and direction monitoring. Video
registration of shadow bands was released. Short wind frequencies measured by the ultrasonic
wind sensor match with the frequencies measured in video-observations of shadow bands
showing a periodicity of 0.19 sec.
