General Information

Bulgarian Astronomical Journal (BAJ) publishes scientific articles on all fields of astro-nomy and interdisciplinary domains.
BAJ is a continuation of the journals "Bulletin of the Section of Astronomy" (1967 - 1973) and "Astrophysical Investigations" (ApI, 1975 - 1996). The ApI volumes 1 - 6 were printed in the period 1975 - 1991. The ApI volume 7, completed in 1996, exists only in electronic form (see "Issues" and "Notes").
In 2006 the Scientific Council of the Institute of Astronomy decided to continue the publishing its scientific journal and to make it attractive for larger number of writers and readers. By this reason now the type of the published paper may be not only research report (including eventually catalogue, atlas, large data set, etc.) but also review, conference talk or poster, lecture at scientific meeting or school, enlarged abstract of dissertation, report about scientific or education activity, summary of school or conference, essay, etc. By the same reason publications in Bulgarian language, as exception, are allowed.
Every submitted paper is examined by anonymous reviewer and if accepted it is published in PDF-format on this website (see "Issues"). Such a paper may be cited as "In print". When enough amount of papers is collected, a current volume of the BAJ is printed and spread. Now (March 2009) the printing rate seems to be two volumes per year (see "Notes").
